Hi, I’m Elyse! I'm a Reggio Emilia-inspired atelierista and private art teacher in Northern California. I'm originally from NY but have called San Francisco my home for the last 25 years. I hold a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree from Carnegie Mellon University and I have been immersed in the fields of art and children for 25 years.
My classes are for children who love art and who thrive in a fun, learning environment. Our time spent spent together will focus on art as a way of connecting to our creative spirit. Classes will nurture your total child. The atmosphere is non-competitive and encourages free expression of ideas and affect. Through different media (clay, oil pastel, watercolor, marker, plaster, acrylic, collage and more) your child will build an understanding of the role of artists in society and recognize art as a form of communication.
An often neglected part of our children's lives, art is too often overlooked and the first thing to be cut. Many schools do not hold in high regard the process of creativity and the need for children to have this as an outlet. Children need art as a forum for safe expression, exploration and imagination, They need art to express emotions that are beyond their capacity of their words, My program is a safe space for your child to trust her/his intuition and take risks,
Founded in 2010, Every Child is an Artist is a hands-on, process art studio, offering specialized classes, workshops and art parties for children and adults. My teaching philosophy is child-centered—I believe that all children are capable of greatness and my job is to inspire and empower them to think outside of their comfort zone.
